World-class teaching in your own home

Leiths School of Food and Wine is the most prestigious and respected cookery school in Britain. Established in 1975, Leiths has provided professional training for hundreds of career cooks from their kitchens in London, and they are now bringing their expert teaching to homes around the world with Workshop.

The Leiths Essential Cooking course on Workshop is for aspiring cooks who would like to learn a vast number of cookery skills for a professional environment, yet don’t have the flexibility to attend classes in London.

Over 24 weeks, you’ll cook everything from Swiss meringue to moules mariniere through a comprehensive series of practical, hands-on sessions in your own kitchen. By following your teacher’s step-by-step video guidance at your own pace, the Workshop mobile app (available on iOS and Android) lets you learn through direct experience – just as you would in Leiths kitchens.

After each session, you’ll have the opportunity to share pictures of your creations with your classmates and teachers for discussion and personal feedback.

If you’d like full accreditation, you can pay an accreditation fee to attend an optional two-day assessment in London either before you start the course or after you’ve completed the course, as an upgrade.

How this course works

The Leiths Essential Cooking course is accessed from the Workshop mobile app on iOS and Android. After signing up to the course online, you will be able to watch and follow new sessions every week from the app, with ongoing support and discussion with your classmates and Leiths teachers:

1.

At the start of each week, you’ll be prompted to schedule 2-4 practical sessions and to gather all the kit you’ll need to start cooking.

2.

In every session, you’ll follow a Leiths teacher through a series of step-by-step videos in your own kitchen, learning directly through experience.

3.

After each session, you will be encouraged to upload pictures of your creations for discussion and feedback from your classmates and teachers.

4.

At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion and can earn full accreditation by taking an assessment in London for an additional fee.

What will I learn?

Throughout the course, you will learn all of the essential skills you need for a lifetime of confident cooking and, by the end, you will have an impressive repertoire of skills that will open the door to hundreds of dishes.

Every week, you will have between 2 and 4 hands-on sessions to complete on your own schedule. These sessions add up to about 3 hours of cooking time every week and you have full control over when you would like to complete your sessions each week. For example, if you have a 9 to 5 job, then you can choose whether you’d like to cook on certain days after work or on the weekends. If you have a particularly busy week then you can always catch up on a missed session or two later on!

Leiths Essential Cooking Certificate

On verified completion of all the sessions in this course, you will receive a Leiths Certificate of Completion. Students who opt to pay the accreditation fee will receive an invitation to the Leiths kitchens in London, where they can take a two-day assessment for the professionally accredited Leiths Essential Cooking Certificate.

Students gaining the Leiths Essential Cooking Certificate often go on to cook for private clients, plan their own food businesses, work in safari lodges or ski chalets, run bed & breakfasts, delis and cake shops or go on to work in all sorts of other food related industries.

Join your class

Learning at Leiths is a collaborative process. That’s why at the beginning of the course, you will be introduced to your very own small group of like-minded classmates over chat. Together with ongoing input from Leiths teachers, you will be encouraged to discuss your individual experiences, troubleshoot any issues and give one another personal feedback on your finished dishes.

You can book a place in the class of your choice using the links below and your class will then complete the course together over 24 weeks from your selected start date. (If you’d like to join this course with a friend, make sure to book yourselves onto the same class!)
