Reflect on Your Learning Journey: The Journal

A few weeks ago, we introduced journal entries, a way for you to take photos as you learn with Workshop. A simple photo can serve as a great visual reminder to what you learnt, and what you achieved, by completing a particular lesson.

By the time you’ve completed a workshop, you will have finished multiple lessons and perhaps even forgotten some of the detailed skills and techniques that you learnt near the beginning. This is why, along with a photo, you can add learning notes, tips or tricks, for you to refer back to when you’re looking for a quick refresher without having to take a whole lesson again.

Now all of your photos and notes have a new home: The Journal.

The journal is where we bring together everything you’ve learnt in an easy to navigate, easy to digest page. You can jump right in by getting the latest version of the app now.

What’s the purpose of the journal?

We wanted to make it as easy as possible for you to look back at everything you’ve ever created in one place – your visual journal.

By bringing everything together in one place, you can see just how much you’ve learnt, and easily dip in and out of specific journal entries to take a look at any notes you added on the day. This means the journal isn’t just a place which is full of your beautiful creations, but it’s also a useful learning tool and a key part of the Workshop learning experience. Think of your journal as a personal reference book that you build up over time as you complete workshops.

Every time you finish a lesson, you’ll be adding to your journal, helping to build that reference book into a lifelong learning guide!

What else has changed?

Along with the journal we’ve built in some brilliant new features, based on your feedback:

  • Learning Goals: You can now set your weekly learning goals, helping you to learn at your own pace. Everyone is different, and everyone has differing amounts of free time, which is why we let you set the pace. Head to the journal to set a target from 1 lesson a week, to 5 lessons a week.
  • Goal Streaks: Hit your goal from week-to-week and you’ll be rewarded with a streak! By building up a streak, you know that you’re being consistent with your learning and making progress every week.
  • Challenges: At the end of every workshop you complete, you’re set a challenge to help test and cement your learning. Challenges now have a new home within the journal and it’s even clearer which ones you still need to complete.
